What this is, as I see it, is performance art or what we back in the sixties used to call guerilla theatre. Howard isn’t really running for GM because general manager, as you may have noticed is not an elected position. At times it seems as if it is not a position that is in any sense accountable to public opinion. I think this is Howard’s main purpose. He is asking us to imagine what it would be like if New York Mets fans had some influence on the management of the franchise to which they give so many dollars and so many drops of blood, sweat, and tears.
